Got to Zambia! I will be at training in Chongwe, just outside Lusaka, for the first three months while I learn my new language (Lunda!), and am trained in all of the technical aspects I will need to work as a Community Health Extension volunteer here.
June 4, 2014:
After coming home from Vietnam, going back to Nepal for a month (April-May), then traveling around the east coast seeing friends and family for a while, I am finally home! Soon I’ll be off to Zambia!
Janaury 21, 2014:
Out of Kathmandu, and on the road! I’m traveling with a friend from college, Stephen. We’re heading first through Nepal to Pokhara (a nice lakeside town near the Annapurna range of the Himalayas: like Kathmandu, but way less crowded, polluted, gross, and way more pretty, slow, and overall NICE). After this we’ll be making our way down to India, to Delhi and Agra to see the Taj Mahal, and then on to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia!
First Stop: Nepal! I will be volunteering at an NGO in Kathmandu that runs a women’s shelter called Raksha Nepal. It is a shelter that works to give care and support for sexually exploited women and their families. I plan to spend the next 2-5 months here, working at the shelter, as well as attempting to learn some Nepali along the way!
Check out the NGO here.
